Here’s The Library

Welcome to the Sex Ed Zine Library, where education is meant to be shared! The library holds 252 zines that were made by undergraduate students as a final project for a Human Sexuality & Relationships course at the University of Vermont between 2021-2025. I wanted to create a final assessment for my students to dive into specific sexuality topics that most interested them and were relevant to their lives. Instead of assigning a test or essay, I had them make zines.

Why zines? Zines have punk, feminist, anti-capitalist, anti-racist, disability, queer, social justice roots starting as early as the 1930s. It’s a way for people to widely distribute radical information without Big Media censorship. Zines are scrappy…creative… personal… honest… and fun. All things that sexuality education is, too.

This digital zine library is a free and accessible resource intended for people 18+ due to mature sexual themes. With book bans and limited access to comprehensive, shame-free sexuality education, this zine library reminds us that sexuality education is sacred and meant to be shared, not censored.

The link below will take you to a Google Drive of the full Sex Ed Zine Library where you can scroll, search, or explore zines by topic area. Or keep scrolling on this page to see some samples of zines that show what college students are thinking about.

Go learn something new… and then tell a friend about it!

Here’s The Assignment

Do you want to bring this project into your classroom or community? The Sex Ed Zine Library is always open to new additions! Below I’ve included all of the assignment details and grading rubric. You can take a look to better understand the assignment, or use it to re-create or adapt it to your students. If you use this assignment, I’d love to hear about it. Let’s grow the library together!
